First Time Here?
We would love to have you worship with us! If you are visiting us for the first time, here are directions and parking information.
We are an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, whose motto is “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” We are a community of spiritual seekers who believe that God has called us to be in covenant together, supporting one another and working together to do God’s work in our world.
What is worship like at Los Altos UCC?
The Worship Service
We provide all worship attendees with a bulletin that helps you follow along with the service.
Announcements about upcoming events and information for the congregation are offered as we gather. Following the announcements, a musical prelude prepares us for worship. The service follows and includes scripture, prayers, sermon and hymns. Sometimes the mood is quiet and contemplative and at other times it is exuberant and spirit-filled.
In every service, you will hear a compelling and challenging message that nourishes your mind as much as your soul. We make our message relevant to daily life, no matter where you are on life’s journey.
Time with the Children and Sunday School
Every Sunday, children are called forward for a special lesson that relates to what we are discussing in the worship service. The pastor or Christian Education director sits by the steps in the front of the Sanctuary, alongside the children, and engages them in a lesson, using words and props that the kids can understand and enjoy. Sometimes we ask them questions; other times we tell them stories; and we always conclude with an engaging prayer.
After Time with the Children concludes, children through Grade 5 are welcome to head off to Sunday School.
Child care is available for small children in Room #1 beginning at 9:30 am. An usher will be happy to accompany you to the room.
Coffee and Conversation
Everyone is invited to stay for coffee and conversation in Patterson Hall, which is located to the right of the main hall entrance.
